I was lucky enough to know this author, and watched this book come together. It's a wonderful story of love and mathematics. It's a great book for reading more text between illustrations, the storyline more complex. Ms. Pittman is an incredible artist, and the illustrations here are exquisite.

Interesting way to teach the value of compound interest and how little effort it takes to master this concept and reap the benefits. My 4-year-old grandson is reading it now and quite intrigued; he's spending a lot more time counting his "piggy money". Appropriate for any age! Good read!

I bought this book to read to my daughter when she was just four, we read it many times. Now, at age 9 she reads this book on her own. She loves that it is not a cheesy Disney princess story and loves how clever and focused the main character is.

This was one option for our first grade summer reading assignment and we were able to read it in one sitting. My almost seven year old didn't quite understand the whole story, BUT the story itself was a great one, about getting ahead by working hard and using one's wits. I would recommend for probably third grade and up. Part of the story hinges on the doubling of numbers, so also great for applying math skills. Overall a fun little story.

Story was what I needed for my math class. The quality of the book's cover and pages was a bit low.

This is one of the most clever stories I've ever read! Can't wait to share it with my granddaughters.

I also like that it is about a clever young man.My favorite part of the book is when the emperor of china tells Pong Lo he can ask for anything. I loved Pong Lo's clever response.

Great book / vocabulary / world knowledge learning tool for classrooms, teachers, SLPs, for kids age 2-6. Excellent pictures.

Great for families and communities unit

My kindergartners loved it and it started a flood of ideas about things they wanted to be when they grow up. It was a great jumping off point for what it takes to turn ideas into action.

A very good book with great illustrations. As a school counselor, I used it with my PK-1st grade students and they loved the book.

This is a great book for introducing young children to careers. I was impressed with all of the careers featured. About 12 careers are covered including a construction worker, judge, musician (orchestra), author, scientist, crossing guard, nurse, veterinarian, sanitation truck worker, woodshop worker, grocery store manager, and a professor. Simple descriptions, and very diverse illustrations. When I got book the inside back jacket cover was torn in several place and parts of sentences were missing due to it. Called Amazon and they sent me a replacement book (perfect condition) the next day. Good customer service. I rarely have problems with purchases but appreciate the help when I do.

My Grandson (now 2 1/2) has loved this book since he was 1 1/2. He loves all the different pictures, and it provides a good explanation of various professions.

One of the best career day books for elementary children! Pictures are illustrated well and a very easy read. Excellent.

The book gave a great idea on how a class can have presentations about their parents career. It gave great examples of various careers. This book was actually chosen under the common core standards for kindergarten.

I don't write many reviews, but for this series I will! I absolutely loved this book and the others in the same series. Tamera did a masterful job of exploring each of the characters and drawing me in. I couldn't leave the books alone! I felt like I was in Timber Ridge! The challenges the characters faced are easy to relate to as we too, face many of the same things. I was so sad when I finished the 3rd book as I did not want the story to end! I can easily see where other story lines can pick up from here and go on to expand the awesome story of Timber Ridge! I am hoping like crazy Tamara decides to add additional volumes to the Timber Ridge series...I will be the first in line to get them!

This is the third book in the Timber Ridge Reflections series. The first two books are From a Distance and Beyond this Moment.Rand is the town's doctor and has been through a lot. He's had his eye on Rachel Boyd for a long time, but she's made it clear that she doesn't want to have anything to do with him. When one of their friends begins to have heart troubles, they need to team up to try and make him better.Rachel's husband died and she's unwilling to risk her heart again. She looks at Rand through glasses that are tainted by memories of her father. While it's unfair, the more time she spends with him, the more she has to admit that he may not have as much in common with her father as she believed.These two both have fears they keep close. Rand is deathly afraid of the dark, and with good reason I might add, and Rachel doesn't want to go through the pain of losing a spouse again. They're going to have to overcome their fears to be together, especially Rachel.The first book, From a Distance, was about Daniel and Elizabeth. They both pop up in this book, as well as the characters from the second book, Beyond This Moment. James and Molly are the main characters in that one and show up a lot as well, especially James since he's Rachel's brother. You can read these out of order, but there are hints of things that have happened in the other books that I didn't remember.

I bought all three of the Timber Ridge Reflections for my Kindle. Loved everything, the story, the characters, the suspensejust about everything. My only complaint is that Tamera Alexander's kindle prices have gone up considerably. I know theauthor has nothing to do with the priceing of her books, but I hesitate to buy more of her books. I fell so bad that thebooks I reviewed were priced high. I even checked the book bundles and they gave me no break.

I have read all of Tamera Alexandra's books - (that I know of) and have enjoyed most of them thoroughly. This book, Within My Heart, which is the third in her series Timber Ridge Reflections, is my favorite out of the 3. I really loved the first one, and only just liked the second one, so it took me a while to decide to invest my time (and money) on the third one. I was not disappointed.Within My Heart has depth. Both in the characters and in the main story line - as well as a few other side story lines that make this book a rich and satisfying read.It is a very emotional book. About love and death - and trusting God to have the best plan for you - instead of holding so tight to your own plans, desires, and fears.Tamera Alexandra is a very gifted writer who has the ability to weave different people's situations into one book - and makes you feel like you know these people.I highly recommend Within My Heart. But you should read the other two in the series first, From a Distance, and Beyond This Moment because many of the characters are tied together from the very start. Reading the other two first will give clarity to some of the situations that play out right to the end of book number 3.Very well done - and worth your time to read.

I assume you have read the general description of the storyline. This is a clean, Christian romance. I'll be honest, I shed some tears. This is not a fluffy light read. It is beautifully written with depth and emotion. AlongsIde the tears were silent nods of personal understanding, smiles and, more than one satisfied sigh. By the time I read the last word I knew I would be reading it again in the future. It is not just the storyline that is well done but the writing itself at times seems almost poetic with beautiful description. It is well edited which also enhances the smooth flow. The Christian thread is not hidden, nor is it harshly shoved at you. It flows naturally within the lives of the characters. There are no cliffhangers or obvious hooks to drag you into purchasing another book (I hate that). There are characters and hints of events from the past and room for more in the future but neither cause this story to feel incomplete. I have no reservations in recommending this book.

Within My Heart is a well-told story about one woman's quest to save her ranch after the death of her husband. Raising her two sons alone only complicates matters, especially when the younger continues to get into trouble. Then, she meets the man of her future, but she doesn't see it like the reader does, because...he's a doctor? Ordinarily, any woman would be happy to meet up with a handsome doctor, but our protagonist is leery of all doctors because her father was one and mistreated (not in a medical sense) everyone in sight.This book was a fun read, complete with the details I love in historical fiction...i.e. - what was it like to live during this time? what were the triumphs? the hardships? I definitely recommend this book

This book has really helped me prepare for my exam; I really liked the answer explanations to the practice questions. I feel fully prepared to take the exam now that I have worked through this study guide. This book is a must for anyone preparing to take the home inspector exam.

I like that the majority of the study guide was made up of definitions. If you understand the definitions then you understand the questions they are asking on the test. I also like the Test Taking tips…. Most who are preparing to take the Home Inspectors test have been out of school and haven’t taken a test for many years.

Decent basic information on systems but very little of what’s in this book shows up on the state test. I felt confident walking into the test after reading every word of this book, but quickly realized the book was almost useless.

The author touches on some interesting points, that India is not a third world country -- there are two Indias, rich and poor, living together. I enjoyed when she spoke about Bollywood films as an escape for those in poverty.The scene in which the Reena gets her revenge was, to be blunt, ridiculous, if not for her actions, then for the speech she gives.This book was an entertaining read, but it could have been so much better.

I read this book in two days because it was so entertaining and bubbly. It's filled with quirky characters and cute one-liners and best of all, it is set in the Bollywood scene in India from an Indian-American girl's perspective. The story's culture clashes cross so many borders - I'm a Latina and could see me in Raveena's shoes in Mexico. It's a light, breezy book to lift your spirits. The revenge aspect was a bit forced and maybe a tad farfedtched, but who cares, that's what true Bollywood is all about! I'm off to buy another one of Sonia's book!

Without waiting for anyone to change their mind, Raveena quickly heads to Bombay where she assumes fame and fortune await her.However, upon reaching her destination in India Raveena finds nothing is remotely like that described by her agent she now considers slime. Her hotel is a dump, but she cannot move in with her Uncle Heeru as his home is overrun by wild pigeons. Even worse, her script is not written and she must dance more than act. To make her stay more miserable her director uses a hands on method touching her everywhere while trying to get her on the casting couch; all this without a script. On the positive side of this disaster is her leading man, mega hunk Siddharth, who Raveena believes is her destiny though she has a few rivals who consider the most popular Bollywood actor of the moment as fair game.Using stereotypes as support cast, Sonia Singh lampoons the Bollywood movie industry for making inane films that are so undemanding and unoriginal yet at the same time Raveena toasts the industry for its vigor and energy. The story line is well written as the audience wonders whether Raveena will get the leading man and finish the movie while eluding the fast hands of the lecherous director. I absolutely love chick lit that feature Indian characters, so I was glad when I learned Sonia Singh had a second novel out entitled "Bollywood Confidential". Although her first novel was average at best in my opinion, this latest book was a great read.Raveena is a struggling Indian actress currently living in Los Angeles. She is tired of not getting anywhere in her acting career. After much deliberation, she decides to accept her agent's latest offer: the lead in a Bollywood film - that takes place and shoots in Bombay, India. Despite her misgivings about living in another country for six months, she figures it would be worth it; after all, she is playing the leading role!Despite the fact that she is of Indian decent, Raveena has grown up in the USA and is unprepared for how India really is: extremely dirty, crowded and hot. Her hotel is a dump, and she is forced to move in temporarily with her seemingly crazy uncle. The director is lecherous and determined to get her into bed, and her costar, the extremely handsome and famous Indian movie star Siddharth, is charismatic and famous, but aloof and uninterested. Too bad Raveena is attracted to him.Worst of all, the as-of-yet unwritten script turns out to be downright terrible. Raveena is afraid she has made a big mistake by accepting this offer to star in what will obviously be a flop of a movie. But she is determined to stick it out.If the Indian food and water doesn't kill her first...Just when it seems Raveena might have caught Siddharth's attention, she gets embroiled in a love triangle with India's number one actress, who is also interested in Siddharth.Bollywood Confidential was a tantalizingly delicious read. Filled with glitz, glamour, poverty, backstabbing, and rivalry - I was hooked from the start. Raveena is a smart, admirable main heroine that I liked reading about. Sonia Singh has a fluid, engaging writing style that made me want to continue reading until the end.The only downfall to this book was that it was a bit predictable overall. Also, the last couple of chapters were downright ridiculous and far-fetched, for the most part.But overall, the great writing and engaging story line made up for any bad parts. I highly recommend this book to all who want to enjoy a great story about actresses and India.
