This is my favorite of all of the Houston League's cookbooks. One reason that I think that is is so great is that unlike the cookbooks now published, below each recipe is the name of the person who contributed it. Each recipe was tested by a group of League members so the ingredients and instructions are correct.Each recipe is one of the contributor's favorites--no one would contribute a recipe that was going to be published with their name under it if they did not love it.It is like getting a collection of recipes from a family member or good friend; no pictures or photographs of food--just great recipes to actually prepare.If you cook and do not want a coffee table book, but want a book with great recipes, this is the book for you.I have bought approximately 2 dozen of them. Two for me--I wore my first one out--and the rest for gifts.

This cookbook is one of my favorite cookbooks! Absolutely love it and use the recipes all the time!

I own all of the other Houston Junior league Cookbooks and am thrilled with them but this one left me sorely disappointed. It may be because it was their first book but the type and quality of recipes are not up to the standard I expect of the ones they have since produced. Waste of money

I came upon this book by chance a few years ago and have read this book over and over. I always find something new in it (Volume 2 of Through the Eyes of Jesus). Alan Ames' visions expand my understanding of Jesus' great love and mercy. It helps so much to read of these ordinary, daily types of scenes with Jesus and his apostles and the people they are healing. One catches a glimpse of the real kindness and love emanating from Jesus. Moreover,the Bishop of Western Australia provides a letter supporting Alan Ames and his work.

No words will give enough honor to this book! So much wisdom and Love in so few pages. Trully a work of art. This book is recommended to anyone who has questions about Jesus,about faith, about Love, or about the meaning and purpose of life. I recommend this book for all. Every page has enough food for thought that could challenge us for the whole day(and hopefully our whole life). About the Author

Angus Cameron completed dentistry at the University of Sydney in 1984 and began work as a junior dental officer at Westmead. He joined the Department of Paediatric Dentistry as a registrar in 1987 and was the first to complete the Master of Dental Science degree in Paediatric Dentistry in NSW in 1991. Angus was appointed a specialist in 1992 and became Head of Department in 1997. He is currently Clinical Associate Professor and Head of Paediatric Dentistry at the University of Sydney and Visiting Senior Specialist at the Children's Hospital at Westmead. Angus was also appointed Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Adelaide and is currently the Registrar (Special Field Streams) of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons. In 2007, he was elected a Fellow of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Angus is co-editor of the Handbook of Paediatric Dentistry, now in its 3rd edition and translated into six languages. His major clinical interests are in the areas of paediatric oral medicine and pathology, dental anomalies and craniofacial biology.

good read and easy to follow.good tables and flowcharts in case of emergencies, traumas, abscesses, etc.couple errors in Rx'sno real info on tooth movement, uprighting (which is okay)no real info on space maintenance, TPA, ling arches, band/loop (which is not)good to have if you don't see too many kids.

On page xiii Preface, it is quite meaningful to all of us. I write it here for your reference "a lot of players say you can't play that course. That's a bunch of junk. A good player can play any course. You adapt your game to the golf course. You don't adapt the course to your game." It is the spirit of dentistry. Can anyone of us take a few minutes of thinking what's the feelig of visiting a dentist at her or his childhood especially at their first visit? I said that because I met before. The one changed my life and made me having a chance of reading this book. So, it is a good book. Keep it!The book provides many clearly illustrations that are easily understand and very useful at practice.There is a special chapter talking about pedo endodontics and writing so details. Moreover, a huge chapter of dental trauma of children give us references to handle the case if we meet.

Has many color pictures and helpful information. Some of the treatment advice is a little on the edge and may be more common in Australian as opposed to the US.

I purchased the printed Dover edition of this book many years ago, but have never finished it. The print was too hard on my eyes. This Kindle edition of the Dover is excellent. Although more expensive than the other choices on Amazon, this Kindle edition is accurate and follows the Dover edition. Also reading this on a Kindle is much easier on eyes.Now as to the writing. Sir Richard F Burton was a great observer and his prose gives great detail to his travels. His style is engaging and personal. The book gives us a glimpse of life in the Middle East at the end of the 19th Century.

I have an old copy of this book, purchased for 50 cents at a used book shop. Liked it so well that I got a digital copy. It is a very important book yet no one cared much about the topic or the author when I purchased it in the 1980s. It is an outstanding, first person account of Sir Richard Burton's travels through the Islamic world before it was modernized. Cannot possibly recommend this more highly to anyone wishing to understand the true nature of the Islamic world. Burton took this pilgrimage posing as a muslim.

Sir Richard Burton wrote his "Personal Narrative" of his travels to Mecca and Medina in modern Saudi Arabia, which he began in 1853. This is, or should be, one of the classics of European exploration of the Middle East. Burton was well enough versed in the Arabic language and the local Islamic customs to travel disguised as a "darwaish" or scholar from Afghanistan - a cover he used to account for slight variations in pronunciation of some Arabic words. He was an acute observer of local people and their customs, he was able to argue Koranic and Sharia law with other travellers and he had an exhaustive historical knowledge of the regions he traveled through. How he managed to write his extensive notes as he traveled without being detected was one of the achievements of his exploration.Unfortunately, this publication does no service to the writer or to the reader. In fact this book is an insult to the memory of a distinguished explorer and anthropologist. Whoever published this volume (wisely, the publisher's identity is not given) should be thoroughly ashamed of it. It contains many typographical errors, sentences end in mid-paragraph, new paragraphs begin without capitals and many paragraphs are formatted so badly they are difficult to read. Burton's notes in other scripts, such as Greek or Arabic, are not reproduced. At the end of most chapters we have one or two large paragraphs taking up most of a page. These are apparently Burton's footnotes but no numbers are given. Nor are footnotes indicated in the main text.Together these faults have completely destroyed Burton's work. They even destroy the credibility of those parts of the text that contain no production errors. Given the hundreds of errors in this book and the obvious negligence with which it has been published the reader cannot be sure that what he or she reads is what Burton wrote. This book cannot be recommended for any reason at all.

I read this story 40+ years ago while I was stationed in Iran. Still fascinates me.

Trenchant observations and clever wit from a young man who risked his life to visit Mecca in disguise. If you love history, read this.

I haven't read this volume yet, but wanted to leave a review to note that this is Volume 2, beginning with Chapter XXI. I don't see any reference on the site to Volume 1, so perhaps it is not available. Still, it would be better if this book's page more clearly described what the buyer is getting.

This was an interesting story about an Englishman who traveled throughout the Mideast disguised as a Muslim (I think about the late 1800s). Even though he includes extensive footnotes, he uses many phrases in French and other languages (without explanation), many times I do not understand the crux of the issue. I have often been confused while reading this book, so I think it will take a better scholar than I to enjoy the story!

This address issues as wide-ranging as avoiding jargon, using proper hyphenation, and formatting complex mathematical formulas within your writing. It's not just a list -- it spans 4 chapters and includes both explanation and examples! The remaining 5 chapters are dedicated to specific topics such as writing manuals and proposals.Throughout, Blake and Bly manage to be both concise and incredibly useful. They provide examples for everything: writing numbers and symbols, revising wordy sentences, and the overuse of "-ize" (with lists of false words, though I disagree with several which have become standard in the language, business, or industry). Showing good writing vs. poor speeds effective learning!There are 2 appendices: A) "Writing in the Systems Environment", a short 2-page guide about how systems departments work and how this affects writing, and B) "A Brief Guide to Software for Writers." I found the appendices less useful than the text.Personally, I think "The Elements of Technical Writing" is top-notch. However, someone who needs in-depth tutoring in English grammar would not be served well by this book. Some people need a slower intoduction to everything. This book is *not* wordy, but it covers a lot of ground quickly.This warning should not be necessary for a college class, but unfortunately, people graduate from high school unable to write as even an eighth-grader should! Professors may consider using this book as a supplement to another -- not because it's inadequate, but because too many students have such low skills. Let the slower book baby them along, and match chapters from this book as reference material.For the rest of us, this book reminds us of grammar rules that have gotten fuzzy over time. This is staying on my shelf!

This book is great for people who have never written procedure, manuals, or technical documents in a professional setting. It does a good job of explaining target audience, elements of clarity, and technical language. Overall great book for beginners but not for someone who already knows these things. I would not recommend this to any of my colleagues who have experience with technical writing but are look to advance their skills. I gave it four stars because I was expecting something a little more advanced. I have a degree in History (basically a liberal arts degree with the amount of writing I did) and this didn't really tell me anything I didn't already know.

I reviewed an early of this book and wrote "This book is very limited, so limited ..... Note it is not bad, just very, very limited, hence not very useful." I just read the Table of Contents and some other online parts for the new edition and it appears far, far superior. The advice is pretty simple actually - develop a preshot routine, putt with confidence, try to make the putt every time...basic stuff right? Except I focused on the technical aspect of my putting stroke, imagined a 3' circle to aim for, and said to myself "get it there Alice!...but not too far...whatever you do don't three putt"As a result my putting was inconsistent and very average, and I practiced weekly.My putting game is AWESOME now. I truly believe I'm a very good putter, and as a result...I am. I virtually never practice putting now but instead focus on my short game touch. Going to read all of his other books now.

Sheesh... I'm 52 pages into this book (of 160 pages), when does it get to something useful? I have to force myself to sit down and periodically read it hoping something an average golfer might use pop's up. Its story after story of 'clients' he has known or worked with, and what they did, but nothing about what the 'average' golfer should do. I sure hope somewhere in the next 100 pages there are some techniques to use

I have read many books on putting including Dave Pelz Putting Bible, Short game bible, Dave Stocktons Putt to Win, and others. I own Mickelsons Secrets of the Short Game and recorded countless episodes of the Golf channel shows. I have taken lessons by reputable and expensive PGA professionals. Ive practiced until I couldn't stand it. All of it only clouded my mind. Its absolutely amazing how this book took me from lost to the best putter in my group of golf buddies.If you have worked on your putting stroke without any noticeable improvement, I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this book!! Lots of good stuff here. However, I did not appreciate some of his digs that are pointed at science based putting. He doesn't name names, but I felt he could be referring to Aimpoint and Dave Pelz. I feel golfers need help in learning to read greens and to know what putting mechanics work for the majority of golfers. This book won't help you with that. After you get that instruction elsewhere, Dr. Rotella's book can help you learn the mental routine needed to execute on the course.

A must read for any golfer. Great stories and full of thoughts one doesn't have on their own!
