Clear and concise book that describes heat transfer to its college student. Being in Mechanical Engineering, one of our course of studies is Heat Transfer. The author does a great job describing the three modes of heat transfer: conduction, convection, and radiation. There are areas that could be described better, such as shape factors and the Heisler charts, but overall a good book.

All I want from a textbook is a concise explanation of the principle, maybe a short derivation of the equation, and an example or two that clearly demonstrate the applications of the theory. This book does that (although it does more derivations than I cared to read).This is the only heat transfer book I've ever used, so I can't do a comparison. I can say that I only keep about 1/4 of my textbooks, and I definitely kept this one.

To be honest, I'm not a huge Eric Carle fan. I like the books, but they aren't our go to's. However, this one really stands out. I love this one so much, because my 17 month old loves it. It's perfect for him, because it encourages interaction. He loves animals and all the pages have different things animals do, for you to copy. Touch your head, bend your neck, touch your toes, etc. He loves for us to read the captions, look at the simple pictures, and then copy what's being done. Perfect learning tool as we're teaching him what all the body parts are. It's a great size board book and perfect for his little hands. Really good quality - sturdy, excellent page thickness.

I bought this book for my speech-language therapy practice and I am very pleased by how applicable it is to my students' goals. The book contains repeating phrases "Can you do it?" and "I can do it" which has been helpful for question asking, social communication in groups, and expanding M.L.U. Many of my kids don't get the actions at first, but they nonetheless enjoy reading an interactive book.

Great board book for this Grandma to read with the little ones. Parents report this book is a bedtime favorite three weeks later. Apparently the three year old has it memorized and "helps" the infant do the motions. Parents substitute toys so baby isn't too abused.

Ordered these for my wife's pre-K class. Did not realize that the books would be so small. Well, my wife can be assured that no one else will have exactly the same books that she has in her classroom...

There is not much to say about this book except that it is short and silly.Every child I read this book to enjoys it for different reasons.Some of the children love the colorful illustrations and wonderful artwork. Other children enjoy the silly storyline and there are the children who love acting it out.Overall a great book that attracts many different children.

As usual, great quality from this publisher. My son beats up his board books but these same to last.Eric Carle has an amazing way with illustrations but I thought the story was different (I thought it was teaching kids what each body part, but this is more about what they can do -- if that makes sense). It's a cute book but not sure I would buy it again (but that's on me for not knowing the story).

I bought it for my 5mo son and he loves it. Of course he doesn't understand the content yet, but he enjoys the illustration. This book has colors, big and simple illustrations and many pages (I've found lots of children books have few pages that could be finished within a minute). I'm sure he will enjoy it even more as he grows up.

This book is amazing!! My son is OBSESSED with the brown bear series. I had this book out during a play date and it entertained two year olds and five year olds to copy the images. It is a short book like all other Brown Bear books that asks the reader “can they do” what ever the animal is doing. I chose the board book because toddlers like to rip pages and it is durable.

Just about a year ago, my bi-weekly Bible study started going through Jerry Bridges' book Respectable Sins. I was expecting a convicting book, and boy was I right.The premise of the book is that Christians too often focus solely on the big sins in each other's lives and the culture around us that we don't focus on the sin in our own life. So the book doesn't discuss things like adultery or murder. Instead, it devotes chapters to sins we try to ignore in ourselves like anger, discontentment, unthankfulness, pride, selfishness, judgementalism, and envy.The first few chapters are an overview of sin and the modern church culture. Jerry Bridges takes aim at how the church has stopped paying attention to these sins and reminds us that all sins are vile in God's eyes. He also reminds us of the importance of repentance and God's grace through sanctification to help us overcome these sins.Chapter seven of the twenty-one chapter book begins looking at the individuals sins. Many chapters are devoted to just one while some take on related sins. For example, he looks at gossip and slander in the "Sins of the Tongue" chapter.Since the chapters are about eight to ten pages each, Dr. Bridges never goes too deep. But he does use illustrations, usually from his own life, to show how easy and prevalent this sin can be. He'll then show from scripture how bad it is and offers us some reminders as we live our lives.Despite the fact that the chapters are short, they really pack a wallop. Most week's we've been going through the book one chapter at a time. While I probably would have read this 180 page book in a few days if it were up to me, this slower pace was good because it allowed me time to really think about what we were reading. Talking about it with others allowed the conviction to truly grow.And don't think you'll get out of conviction here. Every single chapter hit me in some way. Yes, some were more relevant to my life than others, but in all areas I had to do some soul searching and repentance.I can imagine how difficult this book would have been to write. None of the chapters gets too deep, and many of the subjects could use their own book. But I feel that Dr. Bridges does a good job of getting his point across in the limited number of pages he has. And if you want to know more about something, you can always research it on your own.Dr. Bridges even acknowledges that some of the topics addressed, like anxiety, might require greater help than he can provide through one chapter in one book. He assumes that most of his readers are facing normal levels of these sins, but when counseling might be needed, he does mention that in the chapter.If you pick up Respectable Sins and take it seriously, you won't put it down again the same. Not only does this need to be read by Christians, but it should be reread on a regular basis.

Personal holiness is a key theme for Jerry Bridges and in this book he deals with some of the sins that we don't mind displaying because we just don't think they are that bad, sometimes you the extent that we don't even think of them as sin.I think this book is very important for Christians today, particularly in the Industrialized West. It's not that Christians from less developed countries don't share these sins, but rather that Bridges addresses them in ways that are particularly applicable to Americans and Europeans.One reason I give it four instead of five stars is that he sometimes stretches to make a point. Occasionally he points out a valid area of sin, but his personal anecdotes fall a bit short in identifying that sin in himself just to identify himself with his readers.Another reason for four stars it's that Bridges' overt evangelicalism limits the book's appeal for those outside that part of the spectrum of Christian belief and practice.I most recently used this book for a small group study and it provided a great springboard for discussion. At the same time, it provided a great motivation for personal introspection and a desire for holiness in the areas he covers.

I had the privilege to read this book quite recently for a book study and then on my own. I consider this a must for all who profess Christ as their Lord and Savior. If you are not convicted by this book, I would recommend you question your relationship with Christ. This is so convicting and what makes it so good, is that the author brings in his own experience in to show us that the most mature believer who has known the Lord for many years and has taught others for years, was greatly convicted by these "respectable sins"! He not just makes us face them as sin, but gives us encouragement to fight against them.

We all know there are no "respectable sins," but there are some that we tend to overlook because we may not think of them as being as sinful as adultery, murder, theft.... Mr. Bridges does a great job in my opinion of discussing sin in general and then bringing out things in our lives that we need to identify in our lives that will make us more like Christ and allow us to have a closer walk with God.

Time goes by and I focus on big concerns in my life and forget the little things. At least it seems to happen that way to me. I allowed some "respectable sins" to creep into my life. I needed to see those spelled out and begin to deal with them. The book is well written and focuses on what the sins are (enough that we get the idea) and what they look like without nit-picking the minor details. A good book that I needed to read and apply.

This is an insightful book....The best way I can describe the effect it is having on our small group is to take a bit from an e-mail about one chapter from the bookl“Dear Friends, I invite you to take an 11 day journey with me. It is designed to help YOU confront and overcome ONE sin. Just one. I won’t pick it, you will but from the list we have or will be studying next week - Ungratefulness, Anxiety/Anxiousness, Frustration/Discontentment.If one of these sins doesn’t ‘jump’ out at you, it is probably seems ‘so normal’ to you that ‘you don’t think twice’ about feeling the pain of it or expressing it in some ungodly way... What do I mean?Maybe you have developed your own ‘tit for tat’ kind of game with it.Or.. Maybe you explain your sin away by believing ‘it comes with the territory’ or ‘is normal/expected under these conditions’ or ‘you are really handling it pretty well compared to…’Or maybe you aren’t doing so well…maybe you are being pummeled by it, like a child who is battered by a tormenting bully. And, that’s not a bad analogy for sin is it?The sins Jerry Bridges describes are like bullies of life who seek out our weak spots, our vulnerabilities and create havoc in our lives.

But this is not, as it were, the work of a grammarian. Laura is one of the viewers who are all there, thinking all the time, constantly revising spontaneous impressions.There are those who will say (some customer reviewers have done so) that Laura overwrites. Sure enough, if a single metaphor or simile per topics exhausts your tolerance, you may think so, too. At one level, her centrifugal enchaînements of free association are the very opposite of analysis: images arc through her mind like meteor showers off a disco ball, scattering every which way yet within their own broad band of harmony. At her best, she achieves by accretion of detail the depth of focus more conventionally arrived at by reduction, by stripping away.One other thing: Laura is the least doctrinaire of balletomanes, unwilling to stake out absolutist positions. As a person who's only been to the ballet once (The Nutcracker), I found this book to be the perfect introduction to the world of ballet. It gives the novice an inside look at its history, definitions, and the dancers who bring the story to the stage. I found myself on Youtube (repeatedly, I might add) looking up various ballets and dissecting the music, choreography, and the dancers' individual styles. This is a MUST read for anyone interested in learning about ballet and its origins. After reading this, you will want to buy tickets to the next ballet in town!

I've read it twice and know I will go back again many times to particular chapters. Here and there it becomes a little lyrical and poetic for my taste but show the true passion of the author for ballet.

I couldn't put it down and I learned a lot about all the things to pay attention to when planning one of the most important days in your life. The "Regrets" chapter is a must read, and the tips and advice Rich Amooi offer are priceless. He knows what to focus on, and I even recommend this to wedding planners so they can guide their brides in the right direction.One of the things I like the best about this book is the many options and the ideas regarding the entertainment part (things I would have never thought of). A friend of mine just announced her engagement, and another one is renewing her wedding vows this summer, so this is the best gift for them to make their moment unforgettable. I haven't read a book for brides like this before, very informative, easy to follow, to the point and so unique.

This book is a fun read and it is full of great practical advice, from room layout, buffet setting or bar placement to the timing and schedule of all the main reception events including music suggestions, games and lots of original and fun ideas to add your personal touch to your wedding reception and make sure everything flows on your special day without awkward moments, long delays or bored guests. You will not find here the same common and typical advice that you read in all the wedding magazines, but much more personal and practical advice on how to have a memorable and fun wedding reception. I got lots of great ideas out of it and I found the top 25 wedding regrets section especially useful. Many of them were things I had given very little thought to, but that, of course, made lots of sense once the book pointed them out! Great little book. It is and easy read and it will definitely be worth your time and $$.

For me, going through the wedding planning process right now, this book provides a great base for starting the planning, many ideas that I will actually use during my wedding, and overall just a fantastic point of view about weddings!You don't realize that there are SOOOO many little details and nuances about weddings that are truly important and meaningful... that I would have never considered if not for this book!!!Very enjoyable to read!

As a wedding DJ myself, I have to totally agree with the ideas and suggestions in this book. Rich absolutely nails it! There are so many different factors that go into planning a wedding that wedding couples really have no idea about. This book is easy to read, quite entertaining, and will save you time and money in the planning process so you will avoid regrets on your most memorable day. This book is truly worth a hundred times more than the price of this book. This is a "must have" if you're planning a wedding. I highly recommend it!

Apart from broadening the program, she also helped students achieve success in their physics education and preparation for college. Ms. Johnson has also taught Physics for Middle School Science Teachers at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. In the words of my son...This book was a true life saver for me for the AP Physics 1 Exam. My class course did not properly prepare me for the exam, and I lacked enough knowledge of a lot of what I should have known. I did not think that a book with so few calculations would be useful, but in fact it was the opposite, since it turns out that there are little to no calculations on the AP Physics 1 Exam. This book goes through step by step explanations of every topic covered on the exam, and stresses points that are vital for understanding, and will likely appear on the exam. I really felt like I was being taught the class just by reading the book. Also, the book points to various equations which are not on the given equation sheet, but are still incredibly useful and often necessary for using on the exam.The online practice test was also pretty good, but a little bit inconvenient since I prefer being able to write on the exam. Also, chapter 11 on waves and sounds has very confusing and contradicting information which is entirely different from other books.Other than that, this book was the best book that I have used, and helped me earn a 4 on the AP exam, despite not being properly taught in class.

It is a great book. The explanations are specific, make it easier to review in a short period of time.

My daughter used this book to prepare for the AP test a month ahead of the test. She wishes she had it during the whole year to follow along as the teacher covered the material.

I just finished the AP physics I exam and this book is useless. My friends and I got 4 books and used them to practice for the test. This book was the weakest by far. Use it if you hope to get a 3, certainly not for a 4 or a 5 on the AP physics test. Lacks content and has poor explanations. Not up the quality or content of other AP physics 1 books.

Good review of topics covered in AP Physics 1

The book is way shorter and contains much less content than I expected. It barely gave any information on concepts. It does not give examples that are solved completely. I'm confident that there are better options out there.
